Most of our tutors are certified teachers. They are conveniently located, offer flexible scheduling and affordable prices. The tutoring takes place in the student´s home, the tutor´s home or at a place they both agree on.
Our principles
Our service is personalized in such a way that the curriculum is tailored to address each student's unique needs. We work with each student to reach his/her set goals by using positive reinforcement. Time is best used by targeting and strengthening specific academic areas. Academic success results in improved confidence and self-esteem which in turn increases the enthusiasm for learning. Such positive effects last through life, far beyond the school years.
A few words about us
The American Tutoring Center is an educational directory where parents and students in the USA can find educational specialists, teachers and school psychologists. It is owned by The American Tutoring Center LLC, in Clearwater, Florida. We have 25 years of experience in tutoring students at all school levels.
The American Tutoring Center was founded by Dr. Hallur Skulason and Lilja Kristofersdottir. Hallur received his PhD degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has a teachers certificate. Lilja has a BEd. degree in elementary education.
We have 30 years experience in teaching at elementary, middle and high school level. Lilja has taught in elementary and middle school and Hallur has taught in high school and teachers college and also worked as a school psychologist in public schools. We started our local tutoring service 25 years ago and The American Tutoring Center website is founded on experience we have acquired from providing those services.
